Stachyurus Chinensis ‘Joy Forever’

This hardy spreading shrub is a recent introduction with gently variegated foliage that sets it apart from other varieties. The dark green leaves are edged in pale gold throughout summer, being joined by a bronze tint towards the edge of each leaf in autumn when they take on an intriguing tri-coloured effect. Stachyurus chinensis ‘Joy Forever’ produces a charming display of late winter flowers, borne in stiff racemes of cup-shaped, pale yellow blooms. This hardy, deciduous shrub makes a lovely specimen plant in winter borders. Although it is perfectly easy to grow, Stachyurus does require a non-alkaline soil. Height: 2m (6′). Spread: 4m (13′).
