With its prehistoric appearance Equisetum hyemale makes a striking evergreen for the margins of ponds. The stiff, upright stems are banded with distinctive black markings, and fertile stems are topped with brown flower spikes in summer. Commonly known as Rough horsetail, it is extremely hardy, even surviving Arctic temperatures! This eye-catching native perennial is ideal for adding a strong vertical element to ponds and water gardens, providing year round interest. Equisetum is vigorous and best grown in an aquatic basket to restrict its spread. Height: 120cm (48″). Spread: 30cm (12″). Planting depth: Zones 1 & 2 to 15cm (6″) below water level.
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
