Aruncus dioicus is a bold perennial which makes a striking specimen for a pondside, bog garden or a damp area in shade or sun. From a billowing mound of light green pinnate leaves burst large plume-like creamy flowers in early summer. The blossom is similar to Astilbe, with male plants producing the largest flower spikes, whilst female plants produce interesting seedheads. The luminous feather-like plumes light up shady areas and tremble in the breeze. They can be used fresh or dried for cut flower arrangements. An excellent choice for wildlife gardens as the nectar-rich flowers attract a wealth of beneficial pollinators. Winner of an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height: 120 to 180 cm (4 – 6 ft). Spread: 60 to 120 cm (2 – 4 ft).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
